If you are looking for something new to stream while you are staying home to flatten the curve, I’d suggest the documentary series “Megastructures” by the National Geographic Channel.

Every episode that I have seen is absolutely fascinating. One of my favorites is called “Incredible Islands: Dubai,” and it is about construction of the world’s largest set of artificial islands in Dubai. The engineering challenges in this project were almost insurmountable, including sinking sand, storm waves, and water quality challenges. It’s a coastal engineering project on an almost unbelievable scale.

Other episodes describe projects ranging from London’s Olympic Stadium to the German Autobahn. If you want to be amazed by human ingenuity, look no further than this series. It is available on a number of streaming services including Disney Plus and Amazon Prime. – Beth Sciaudone, DTC Civil Water Resources & Environmental Instructor
