The NCEES has published, effective October 2025, Exam Specifications for the three Mechanical Engineering PE exams. The previous Exam Specifications were effective April 2017. It might be expected that with such a long period between publishing dates there would be significant differences. Upon comparison, there are, in fact, only very slight differences. What makes the two sets of specifications look different is that the April 2017 specifications have a 3-tier format while the October 2025 specifications have a 2-tier format. Additionally, specifications have merely been moved around. It is easy to believe that major changes have been made when they have not.

What the comparison of these two editions of the specifications means is that the DTC courses continue to cover the necessary material to pass whichever exam someone chooses to take. The right material is being presented and to the right depth. Testimonials from past participants, along with our overall pass rate, confirms the decisions we have made to address the exam specifications. – The DTC Support Team
