More than Just Data – Using Data Centers to Heat a Town

Data centers have popped up in many places around the world to handle our appetite for web-browsing, online purchasing, and commercial information services. These facilities are very energy intensive and use 1-2% of the world’s energy demand. This is expected to be 20% or more in the near future. Almost 100% of the electricity used […]

FEATURED TESTIMONIAL – “Gave Me the Courage to Pass the PE.”

“I attempted the PE Mechanical Machine Design & Materials Exam back in 2019 and failed, and since then I have been on and off preparing for the PE. I have tried PPI and School of PE programs, but none of them comes close to the detailed care and understanding that your program provides. DTC’s program […]

While the DTC Team was at the 2023 AHR Expo, there was an article in the Day 2 Expo daily newspaper titled “Math Matters.” That title definitely caught my attention. Niobium to the Rescue!

World’s Largest Thermal Energy Storage Starts Up

The biggest impediment in using renewable energy (solar and wind) is that it is intermittent. That is, the wind doesn’t blow all the time and solar energy depends on the time of day and weather. Energy storage is a key way these renewable energy sources can be made more useful.  A 14.9 million gallon tank in Germany will […]

So Many Distractions – How to Stay Focused

In a recent ASME article caught my attention. It was titled “Mastering More Willpower” by Jean Thilmany. Her premise for the article was “By strengthening your willpower you’ll get more done and more satisfaction in work and life.” Collaborating with Roy Baumeisster, professor of psychology at Florida State University and the University of Queensland in […]
