So how many times during the day do we ask: “Is that AI or is it real?” For most of us, we ask this question lots. Even if it is clear that it is AI, much of what AI finds is good stuff. Being in the business of providing courses to help mechanical engineers pass the PE Exam, we decided to ask AI the theme question: “What a Difference a PE Makes”. The results that came back were “right on!”
In its opening statement, AI caught the essence of what having a PE means: Mechanical engineers should seriously consider getting their PE license right now because the engineering world is changing fast – and the PE is becoming one of the clearest ways to stand out, stay relevant, and protect long-term career value.
One of the really cool things about AI’s response was the outline it created. Here is a list of the “big picture” headings relative to this extremely important question for mechanical engineers:
- The PE Proves You’re Trusted – Not Just Skilled
- AI is Replacing Tasks – Not Accountability
- The Best Projects Often Require Licensed Engineers
- It Creates Stability During Economic Uncertainty
- It Opens Higher-Level Career Paths
- It Gives You Long-Term Flexibility
- It Signals Discipline and Professionalism
- The PE Matters More in Certain Industries
- In Some Industries, the PE Matters Less
- The Real Difference Is Usually the (Salary) Ceiling
- The PE Creates “Side Income” Opportunities
Under each of these major headings were a great many aspects associated with the heading, all of which we have been saying to mechanical engineers long before AI existed. What was nice is that AI brought all these thoughts together in an organized and structured package.
AI summarized its response to our theme question with the profound statement:
You do not need to be a PE to have a successful mechanical engineering career, but in many traditional engineering industries, the PE significantly increases long-term earning potential, authority, and job security.
Clearly, AI has provided an overwhelming argument for getting your PE. If you would like to follow the career dream of becoming a PE, contact us at DTC! – All the best from the DTC Team
