Someday soon, if you were to have a BMW iX electric SUV, which was showcased at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show, you might not know what color your car is, at least right that moment. According to a Motor Authority article, using technology I’m not sure I understand, you can, at the flip of a switch, change the color of your car from white to gray to black or create patterns with all three shades. The color shift could come in handy in hot weather where white would be cooler, or in cold weather where black would be warmer. Gray would be for in between. Changing patterns would be just to show off, I suppose.

One of the problems I see is that when parking in a large lot, you might not remember the last color you picked and have difficulty finding your car. An interesting conundrum to keep the engineers at BMW busy. – Dr. Tom
