With Women in Engineering Day coming up this week, we wanted to pay tribute to all the women engineers who have helped the world progress and accomplish great feats and who were, for many years, ignored by history. Their stories are truly inspiring.
An ASME article, “In the Shadow of Apollo 11: 11 Women Engineers,” highlights the stories of 11 remarkable women engineers, who made critical contributions to the success of Apollo 11 mission and the first moon landing, and missions before and after: Barbara Crawford Johnson, Margaret W. Brennecke, Arminta Harness, Phyllis Gaylard, Ivy Hooks, Dorothy Lee, Georgianna Yvonne Young Clark, Mary Winston Jackson, Naomi McAfee, Doris C. Chandler, Jeanne Lee Crews. Their stories are so impressive and definitely worth knowing. – Dr. Tom
